26.04.2007 Polish Oil and Gas Company in Forbes Global 2000 ranking

On 26 April 2007, Polish Oil and Gas Company (PGNiG) receivedan award for the largest companies ranked in the Global 2000 listpublished by the U.S. Forbes magazine.

The ranking features the top corporations of thegreatest significance for the global economy. “PGNiG is very happy tojoin the group of real global stock market giants. We are glad that ourefforts to build the market value of the company have been recognized.Our last year’s results are proof that while operating in a verydynamic market environment we have been successfully identifyingprojects and investments that strengthen the company” – said Mr. JanAnysz, Vice-President of PGNiG during the award ceremony.

PGNiG joined the ranking for the first time and hasbeen classified in 1170 position, which gave it the third place amongthe Polish companies ranked by the American publishers of the magazine.The other Polish corporations that have been ranked are PKN Orlen, PKOBP and KGHM Polska Miedz.

PGNiG was recognized not only for the salesperformance (US$ 3.8bn) and the generated net profit (US$ 0.3bn) butalso for the progress in the value creation following the successfulIPO of the company.

The first place in this year’s ranking went toCitigroup, the U.S. banking group. Numerically, banks have thestrongest representation and with the aggregate net profits of US$380bn they outstripped the oil and gas industry (aggregate profit ofUS$ 229bn).

In terms of breakdown by country, U.S. companiesdominate in the ranking in the number of 659. The Japanese companiesare the second largest group (291) followed by the British. In ourregion, Hungary is represented by two corporations and the CzechRepublic – by one.
