30.04.2013 PGNiG SA to acquire PGNiG Energia in pursuit of its short-term strategy

Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA will acquire its wholly-owned subsidiary PGNiG Energia. The merger is another step in the PGNiG Group's short-term value creation strategy for the years 2012-2014, unveiled towards the end of 2012.

The companies have already agreed a plan for the merger.

In line with the strategy, this will make it possible to establish a Group-wide competence centre for electricity and heat generation by PGNiG Termika. Moreover, a new branch will be created within PGNiG that will ultimately assume all wholesale functions, which have thus far been dispersed across different units of the PGNiG Group, including at PGNiG Energia.

PGNiG Energia SA is a wholly-owned subsidiary of PGNiG, engaged in the preparation of investment projects and trading activities focused on electricity, certificates of electricity origin and carbon emission allowances.
