18.10.2012 PGNiG launches the Lubiatów-Międzychód-Grotów production facility

Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA can already commence the launch of the Lubiatów-Międzychód-Grotów production facility. Having completed technical commissioning, the Company can now undertake work related to the facility's start-up. Thanks to the project, Poland's conventional gas production will increase and domestic output of crude oil will double.

In line with the adopted schedule, the volumes produced at the first stage of the start-up process will represent 25% of maximum production capacities of the Lubiatów-Międzychód-Grotów crude oil and natural gas production facility. This stage will take approximately six weeks. It is assumed that at subsequent stages the production will reach 50% and ultimately 100% of the facility's total capacities.

The construction of the LMG production facility is one of PGNiG's largest investment projects undertaken in recent years, and the Lubiatów-Międzychód-Grotów fields are among the largest petroleum deposits in Poland. Recoverable reserves in the area of Lubiatów, Międzychód and Grotów amount to 7.25 million tonnes of crude oil and approximately 7.3 billion cubic metres of natural gas.  In future years, the project will enable PGNiG to considerably increase its natural gas production and double its annual crude oil output to approx. 1 million tonnes.

The project involves the development of 14 wells on crude oil and natural gas fields. Seven wells will come on stream on the Lubiatów field, three wells - on the Międzychód field, and four wells - on the Grotów field. The facilities built under the project include well-adjacent installations, pipelines connecting individual wells with the LMG Central Facility, the LMG Central Facility and product pipelines transporting crude oil and natural gas from the Central Facility to the dispatch terminal.  The cost of the project was PLN 1.7bn (VAT inclusive).
