23.03.2007 Opening of the Representative Office in Brussels

On 23 March 2007 Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA(PGNiG), as the first Polish company of the energy sector, isofficially opening its permanent Representative Office in Brussels.

When explaining the reasons which lay behind thisdecision, Mr. Krzysztof G?ogowski, President of the Management Board ofPGNiG says:
"PGNiG wants to be an active participant of theEuropean forum where the discussion on the future of the European gasmarket is going on. Brussels is the place where the debate on theenergy market takes shape of specific legal regulations, and thisclearly has an impact on the environment our company operates in.Without our presence in Brussels, active  participation in thediscussion on this legislation would have been impossible".

Thanks to its permanent presence in Brussels theCompany will be able to monitor the impact of the European legislationon the Polish gas market, which will result in improved quality ofdecisions. It shall also lead to an effective representation of theinterests of the Polish gas industry. The Representative Office willassist in strengthening the EU support for specific projects of PGNiG,that are crucial for the energy security of Poland.
PGNiG willalso develop the relationships with industry organisations (such asEUROGAS and European Energy Forum) and other European companies thatare present in Brussels.


The established presence in Brusselsoffers the opportunity for monitoring the activities of the EuropeanParliament committees, including specifically ITRE (Industry, Researchand Energy) and the working groups of the Council of the EuropeanUnion. 

The Director of the Representative Office of PGNiGin Brussels, Pawe? Konzal, joined PGNiG in May 2006, as an Advisor tothe Management Board. Previously, he focused on European mattersparticipating in the working groups at the European Commission and theCouncil of the European Union, related to the energy sector withparticular focus on the gas industry.


Pawe? Konzal graduated fromWy?sza Szko?a Biznesu - National Louis University in Nowy S?cz. He wasa scholar of  DePaul University in the United States and the Universityof Turin in Italy.
