General Information
Standardization at the PGNiG Group includes organisation and execution of standardization projects in line with the Group’s requirements in the areas of gas engineering and oil mining.
Representatives of the PGNiG Group take part in standardization projects at company, national and European levels, which gives them an opportunity to propose initiatives and participate in the processes to give opinions on and develop company, national and European standards in a given area.
Coordination and management of standardization activities for the purposes of the PGNiG Group are a responsibility of the Standardization Department, operating within the Innovation and Business Development Division at the Head Office.
As part of the standardization activities carried out by the Technical Standard Committee of the Chamber of the Natural Gas Industry and its Working Teams, representatives of the PGNiG Group, as members of these bodies, actively participate in the standardization work undertaken by the Committee and the Teams to plan the scope of and develop the Chamber’s Technical Standards.
At the PGNiG Group level, standardization work is carried out by the Intercompany Standardization Committee in two principal areas:
- implementation of the Technical Standards of the Chamber of the Natural Gas Industry at the PGNiG Group and withdrawal of the previous PGNiG SA Standards;
- initiation of processes to develop new PGNiG SA Standards for areas not covered by the Technical Standards of the Chamber.
At the national level, representatives of the PGNiG Group take part in the standardization activities of the following technical committees of the Polish Committee for Standardisation: Technical Committee 31 on Oil and Gas Mining and Technical Committee 277 on Gas Engineering. The activities include planning and developing standards, issuing opinions on European and international standards, and supervising their adequacy for oil mining and gas engineering.
