PUNA and ORLEN SA meetings with NOC and Zallaf in Poland

On July 4 and 5 2024, PGNiG Upstream North Africa (PUNA) and ORLEN SA hosted meetings with a Libyan delegation from the National Oil Corporation (NOC) and Zallaf in Warsaw, Poland.

These discussions followed the lifting of the Force Majeure on PUNA's Libyan project, based on a letter from NOC dated February 14, 2024, which confirmed the relatively stable political and security situation in the CA 113 region and assured full support from NOC. The meetings addressed key topics, including technical and commercial aspects of cooperation between NOC, Zallaf, and PUNA, updates on existing infrastructure, capacity of the gas pipeline from the Al-Wafa field, and production forecast profile for the Al-Wafa field. The second day featured also a field visit to the Płock refinery of ORLEN, a significant site from both economic and infrastructural perspectives. The meetings were conducted in a professional and amicable atmosphere, promising productive collaboration on multiple fronts. Moreover, during the meetings PUNA and NOC agreed on the content of the Extension Agreement on the conditions for resuming the exploration work in Libya and declared their readiness to sign the Agreement still in July.

PUNA was represented by Ms. Katarzyna Śliwińska, Managing Director, Mr. Szymon Drzewakowski, General Manager of the Libyan Branch, Mr. Ibrahim Sherif, Deputy Manager of the Libyan Branch, and Mr. Rafał Mrzygłód, Development Coordinator.
The ORLEN delegation was headed by Mr. Robert Czekaj, Executive Director for Exploration and Production, and included also Mr. Zbigniew Tatys, Managing Director, Geology and Hydrocarbon Production Branch, Mr. Krzysztof Kaczmarczyk, Exploration Director, Mr. Rafał Trudzik, Investment Director, Mr. Jacek Kunysz, Senior Investment Specialist, Mr. Michał Malczewski, Exploration Manager, Mrs. Ania Baszkiewicz, Deputy Exploration Manager, Mr. Krzysztof Magiera, Production Director, Mr. Andrzej Maksym, Member of Management Committee, Mr. Krzysztof Pietrzyk, Senior Process and Facility Engineer, Mr. Daniel Podsobiński, Reservoir Engineer.
The Zallaf delegation included Mr. Hussein Abuselyana, Chairman, Mr. Isam Shibani, Exploration & Production MMC, and Mr. Abduraouf Abudbra, Atshan Project Manager. NOC was represented by Mr. Najme Mohamed Karim, Major Projects Manager, Mr. Nouridine Shekmane, Reserve Development Manager; Mr. Abdulmonem Betikh, Exploration Manager; Mr. Anwar Yousef Aghil, Production Manager; Mr. Hisham Taher Najah, Investment Manager; and Mr. Ramadan Ben Shaban.

May 3rd Constitution Day in the Hague

PGNiG Upstream North Africa B.V. (PUNA) provided support to the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in The Hague (Netherlands) in organizing a ceremonial reception on the occasion of the Constitution Day of May 3. Company's representatives took part in the ceremony. The reception took place on 7 May in the historic courtyard of the former 16th century monastery "Het Prinsenhof" in Delft, the Netherlands.

The ceremony was attended by many distinguished guests from the world of diplomacy, representatives of government and local administration (including presidents of cities cooperating with the Embassy), as well as personalities from the world of culture and Dutch business. The event was also attended by important representatives of the Dutch-Polish community.

PUNA has lifted the Force Majeure in the Company’s Project

PGNiG Upstream North Africa B.V. (PUNA) has lifted the Force Majeure in the Company’s Project with the effective date of 1 April 2024. The decision was made bearing in mind the letter from the National Oil Corporation (NOC) dated 14 February 2024 with their assurance of the relatively stable political and security situation in the region of the Contract Area 113 and declaration of providing by the NOC any support needed.

PUNA is in the process of preparations for the resumption of its exploration operations that are scheduled for the second quarter of 2025.
