29.03.2012 The PGNiG Group to implement a joint procurement policy
On March 28th 2012, twenty PGNiG Group entities signed a multilateral memorandum of understanding regarding joint procurement. The MoU is designed to launch optimisation measures in each area of procurement where significant cost reduction is possible. According to the PGNiG Group's preliminary analyses, depending on the area of procurement, the measurable effect of the project will be a cut down in costs of 10%-35%. The estimated annual savings may amount to as much as several dozen million złoty.
The project covers PGNiG SA and most of the PGNiG Group members. The memorandum of understanding was signed by six distribution companies, all the exploration companies (PNiG Piła, PNiG Kraków, PNiG Jasło, PN Diament), Geofizyka Toruń, Geofizyka Kraków, PGNiG Technologie, PGNiG Energia, PGNiG Termika, as well as ZRG Krosno, Bud-Gaz, INVESTGAZ and Geovita.
The implementation of the common procurement policy will be supported by the best practice developed by the Group, as well as its previous experience.
"Leveraging the economies of scale achieved by the entire PGNiG Group and implementing the best procurement practice, we can significantly reduce spending and considerably streamline the procurement process. In future, entities with the largest experience may become procurement centres in those areas in which they are best qualified," says Mirosław Szkałuba, Vice-President of PGNiG SA for Procurement.
As part of the "Gazprofit" project aimed at implementing shared procurement at the PGNiG Group, the "PGNiG Group's Joint Procurement Policy" and relevant rules have been developed. As a priority, joint procurement is planned to cover such areas as IT, telecommunications, transport and insurance.
