18.10.2013 PGNiG’s crude oil output and sales double in Q1–Q3 2013

The volume of crude oil sold by Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA (PGNiG) in Q1-Q3 2013 doubled, from 352 thousand tonnes to 705 thousand tonnes, year on year. In the same period, crude output rose more than twofold, from 353 thousand to 789 thousand tonnes. These substantial increases in crude production and sales follow the launch of production from two key projects - the LMG oil and gas extraction facility and the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

In Q3 2013, crude oil sales doubled year on year, from 129 thousand tonnes to 255 thousand tonnes, with crude production having increased by 150%, from 129 thousand tonnes in Q3 2012 to 327 thousand tonnes in Q3 2013.

In Q1-Q3 2013, sales of natural gas totalled 11.7 billion cubic metres, which represents an increase compared with 10.5 billion cubic metres sold in the same period of 2012. PGNiG Sales & Trading alone sold almost 900 million cubic metres of gas more than it did a year before, which proves that the subsidiary is growing at a healthy pace. In Q1-Q3 2013, natural gas output increased from 3.2 billion cubic metres to 3.4 billion cubic metres year on year, with the increase driven chiefly by the launch of production in Norway.

In Q3 2013, sales of natural gas amounted to 3 billion cubic meters, up from 2.5 billion cubic metres in the corresponding period of the previous year. In the same period, natural gas production amounted to 1.1 billion cubic metres, relative to 1 billion cubic metres in Q3 2012.

In Q1-Q3 2013, gas imports totalled 8.2 billion cubic metres, of which 6.9 billion cubic metres was imported from countries lying east of Poland. The respective figures for Q3 2013 were 2.3 billion cubic metres (total gas imports) and 1.9 billion cubic metres (imports from countries east of Poland).

As at the end of the day on September 30th 2013, the high-methane gas underground storage facilities held approximately 2.5 billion cubic metres of gas, including mandatory stocks at the disposal of the Minister of Economy.

In Q1-Q3 2013, PGNiG Termika sold 27.64 PJ of heat (Q1-Q3 2012: 25.97 PJ) and 2.58 TWh of electricity (Q1-Q3 2012: 2.43 TWh). In Q3 2013, PGNiG Termika's heat and electricity sales totalled 3.37 PJ and 0.44 TWh, respectively, compared with 2.75 PJ and 0.40 TWh in Q3 2012, respectively.

The Q1-Q3 2013 and Q3 data are estimates only and may differ from the actual figures, due to be disclosed on November 14th 2013 with the publication of interim financial results.
