05.05.2016 PGNiG plans to receive first LNG cargoes under short-term spot contracts at Świnoujście in June
The PGNiG Group is considering plans to order five spot cargoes of LNG in June and July 2016. The spot cargoes would be received independently of the regular deliveries made under the long-term contract with Qatargas, scheduled to start in the second half of July 2016.
The spot cargoes would supplement short-term gas supplies that have been delivered via pipelines. For LNG purchased on a spot basis, the price and other terms offered by suppliers at a given time would be taken into account.
“The LNG terminal opens new possibilities of using spot contracts, allowing us to optimise the sources and price terms of gas supplies, with regular deliveries received under long-term contracts. Importantly, this also marks a step forward in our preparations to launch international LNG trading operations,” said Maciej Woźniak, PGNiG Vice-President for Trade.
PGNiG SA has booked capacity at the Świnoujście terminal under a long-term contract which allows it to receive and regasify approximately 2.5 million tonnes of LNG annually.
