22.02.2007 PGNiG opens a new natural gas production facility

Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA (PGNiG) will put anew gas production facility into operation. The facility is located inJasionka near Rzeszów, within the area of operations of the PGNiGBranch in Sanok.

In the years 2001-2004, a number of wells weredrilled in the Jasionka field in order to prepare the geological andreservoir documentation. As a result of this efforts, natural gasreserves were identified at the depth of 600-1,700 metres. Therecoverable reserves of the Jasionka field amount to 1.75 billion cubicmetres.

The yearly production volume from the field is expected toexceed 150 million cubic metres of high-methane natural gas. Theinvestment expenditures totalled approx. PLN 24 million.

The commissioning of the production facility inJasionka makes part of the PGNiG's policy to increase the productionfrom the domestic fields. Currently, PGNiG extracts yearly around 4.3billion cubic metres of natural gas (as converted to high-methane gasvolumes) from its own fields located in the South and West of Poland. The annual natural gas production of PGNiG accounts for over 30% of thedemand for this fuel in Poland.

PGNiG is also undertakingintensive efforts with a view to exploration and appraisal of new oiland gas fields in Poland. The company holds over 70 explorationconcessions within the territory of Poland. The natural gas reserves inPoland proven by PGNiG amount to over 106 bcm. PGNiG produces naturalgas in the South of Poland (Branch in Sanok - 1.9 bcm per annum) and inthe North-West of Poland (Branch in Zielona Góra - 2.4 bcm per annum).

TheBranch in Sanok produces natural gas at 37 sites and operates over 680active natural gas production wells within the area of its activity.
