16.04.2015 President of the Energy Regulatory Office approves amendment to PGNiG SA wholesale gas tariff
The President of the Energy Regulatory Office (URE) has approved an amendment to PGNiG SA's wholesale gas tariff, reducing the prices of gas and extending the tariff's effective term until July 31st 2015.
The average price of gas paid by PGNiG SA wholesale customers (customers purchasing gas for resale and the largest end consumers with an annual consumption in excess of 25 mcm) was reduced by an average of 7.1% for high-methane gas and 3.2% for nitrogen-rich gas, which follows from the alignment of the price per 1 kWh of nitrogen-rich gas with the price per 1 kWh of high-methane gas. The gradual alignment of prices per energy unit was already seen in the existing tariff, which was reported by PGNiG once the tariff was approved by the President of URE.
The change in gas prices follows from the persistently low prices of crude oil and relatively low prices of natural gas across wholesale markets in north-western Europe, which reduced PGNiG's total cost of gas below the cost assumed in the calculations of the existing tariff.
