03.04.2007 Creation of the Community Consultation Board for development of the LNG terminal in Swinoujscie

Today, the founding meeting of the Community Consultation Boardfor development of the LNG terminal in Swinoujscie was held in the WestPomeranian Voivodeship Office in Szczecin.

The purpose of the Board will be to observe andconsult on issues of importance for the inhabitants of the regionrelated to the development of a receiving terminal for liquefiednatural gas in Swinoujscie. The Board gathers representatives of theauthorities of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship and Swinoujscie,environmental and tourism organisations and inhabitants of Swinoujscie.In addition, representatives of the Szczecin and Swinoujscie PortAuthority and Polish Oil and Gas Company, which develops the project,have been invited to the Board. The Community Consultation Board fordevelopment of the LNG terminal in Swinoujscie was established on theinitiative of Robert Krupowicz, the West Pomeranian Voivode. The Boardwill support the Voivode for the whole duration of the investmentdevelopment.


- The construction of the LNG terminal inSwinoujscie is one of the largest investments developed in our region.In addition, this investment is also of key importance for ensuringsecure gas supply for all customers in Poland. We establish theCommunity Consultation Board because we want to make sure that thisstrategic investment implemented in our region is subject to ongoingconsultations with all stakeholders. We hope that thanks to thisinitiative the LNG receiving terminal in Swinoujscie will be developedwith due respect for the interests of all constituencies whilepreserving the tourist and natural qualities of Swinoujscie. - said Robert Krupowicz, the West Pomeranian Voivode. 

The Board meetings will be held monthly. Duringthese regular meetings the members of the Board will consult onspecific issues concerning subsequent development stages of theinvestment. The investor - Polish Oil and Gas Company - will also haveits representatives in the Board.

- We recognise the significance and impact ofthis project on the development of the town. We are committed tocarrying out broad community consultations before we set out to buildthe LNG terminal. The Board will be a forum where it will be easier forus to provide information on the progress of the project and maintain adialog with all interested parties. - said Tadeusz Zwierzy?ski, Vice President of the Management Board of PGNiG in charge of strategic projects of the company
