30.10.2009 PGNiG SA and OAO GAZPROM agreed on terms of cooperation

During the talks closed on October 29th 2009 in Moscow, PGNiG SA and OAO Gazprom settled the terms of cooperation regarding natural gas supplies to Poland. The Parties reached agreement on increasing the supplies and extending the term of the existing contract until 2037. Additionally, PGNiG SA and OAO Gazprom adopted compromise solutions regarding the manner of managing EuRoPol GAZ SA and the tariff policies applied by the company.

The terms of the agreement reached during the talks are set forth in the Joint Statement executed by the Parties and will come into force when the governments of the Republic of Poland and the Russian Federation sign the relevant documents. Additional Information Poland uses approx. 14 bcm of natural gas, of which approximately 30% is generated by domestic production. In 2008, OOO Gazprom Export delivered over 7 bcm of gas to Poland. Imports of the Russian gas to Poland and gas transmission through the territory of Poland are governed by long-term contracts executed on the basis of the inter-governmental agreement of 1993 and annexes thereto. EuRoPol GAZ SA was established in 1993. The company owns the Polish section (684km) of the Yamal-Europe transit gas pipeline and five pump stations. The main shareholders of EuRoPol GAZ SA are PGNiG SA and OAO Gazprom (each holding 48% of the share capital). The remaining 4% of the shares are held by Gas Trading, whose shareholders are as follows: PGNiG SA (43.41%), PHZ Bartimpex SA (36.17%), OOO Gazprom Export (15.88%), Węglokoks S.A. (2.27%) and Wintershall Erdgas Handelshaus GmbH (2.27%).
